Resonant Beings - Enjoy Public Art Gallery
Step Space Step Space Step - Performance Arcade
Step Space Step Space Step acts as a satellite to the Enjoy Gallery exhibition, Resonant Beings. The two spaces, Enjoy Gallery and the Performance Arcade are connected by an exploration of resonance and sonicity to understand how the body traverses space.
"Resonant Beings is a solo exhibition at Enjoy Gallery presented by sonic artist and composer, Rose James. The installation will be a multi-channel spatialized composition that marries the sounds of the body and the materiality of steel, using the phenomena of sound to explore the sympathetic entwinement of the body and architecture. Resonant Beings endeavours to explain the emotive resonance of the self to one’s built environment; implicit in this scenario is the notion that we explain ourselves through the buildings we build, and we read ourselves in our surroundings.
Established in 2000, Enjoy Public Art Gallery is a non-commercial project space, run by a board of trustees comprised of committed and professional art practitioners. Enjoy creates a dynamic space for the visual arts in Wellington by means of an experimental programme that pushes the boundaries of contemporary art practice.
Galleries open Wednesday 13th Feb - Saturday 9th March:
