PARK(ing) Day 2026

New Zealand Fringe Festival is proud to present, in collaboration with Wellington Sculpture Trust, and with the support of Wellington City Council: PARK(ing) Day 2026 this Saturday, February 28th from 10am-5pm, along Cuba Street between Ghuznee Street and Vivian Street.

PARK(ing) Day is the final event in the Cuba Street Summer Series, presented by CCAT. For those who don’t know, it’s an annual event where artists get to reimagine what a carpark space could look like. They transform our city spaces into magic!

This year, over 30 artists are participating in PARK(ing) Day. You are bound to see some delightful displays. Alongside the carparks, NZ Fringe has a lot of other activations to look forward to:

Pop-up performances – NZ Fringe artists are taking their performance the street! We are encouraging artists to think outside the black box theatre and imagine their show out in the public forum.

Live screenprinting – Your only chance to get 2026 NZ Fringe merch. Choose a tee and get it screenprinted on the spot ($15 for your own tee or $20 for one of ours) thanks to our friends at Conform Print. Choose from two eclectic designs and walk away with your own Fringe keepsake.

Box office – If you like what you see on the street, this is your chance to buy tickets for the show in the evening or weekend! We will have a crew on site to answer your questions about the programme and help you sort your weekend date night.

Bike valet – Hosted by WCC, free bike valet will be on offer. Ride up, park your bike, and we’ll look after it while you shop and enjoy the festivities.

Pickpath – A unique activation called The Mini Lives of Minikins is on offer as well. If you are walking or riding a bike follow the cycleway between Island Bay and Cuba Street helping the hidden residents of Pōneke, the Minikins, with some little errands.

Picnic Tables – Thanks to our amazing Fringe sponsors, Resene, we have 6 picnic tables dotted around the event to enjoy your lunch at. 6 Fringe artists have painted a new top on each and one will be awarded the 2026 People’s Choice Picnic Table award.

Radioactive.fm – Stop by for some tunes at Swan Lane carpark brought to you by Radioactive.fm.

See you Saturday for the festivities!
